Weight Lifting Articles > Carbohydrates for energy vs. Protein

As you should know, your body uses carbohydrates for energy. That is what the body needs to perform. Many marathon runners will eat loads of pasta the night before the race. The Boston Marathon is a prime example of this the night before. In terms of weight lifting, if you do not have enough carbohydrates in your system while working out, the body will naturally use other resources that are available, such as PROTEIN and use that for energy.

In short, make sure you have plenty of carbohydrates in your system in order to get the most out of the protein you do take in.
