Weight Lifting Articles > Super Saturation Theory

Many professionals say that weight lifters take in excess nutrients such as protein, minerals, all types of vitamins, iron, zinc, glutamine, etc etc. They say this because they believe the human body can only use up to 55-65 grams of protein each meal, therefore it would be pointless to over saturate the body with excess nutrients in one huge meal, most of it will be a waste... or so they say...

In you're body at different times it will need more nutrients than other times, you can call it a reaction that occurs, i.e. protein synthesis, where you will need the extra nutritional supplements in order to maximize the results. This allows you to gain unexpectedly and in different ways then if there were no extra nutrients available at the time of a certain reaction. This would not be possible if you did not super saturate and decide on taking in the minimum.

Consider this common sequence of weight lifting / body building...

1st - Bulk Up - where extra fat is not a problem, just gain as much mass as possible

2nd - Cut Up - get ripped, lose all the fat but keep the muscle you had while not losing too much mass.

This process is possible because of super saturating the body with excess nutrients in hopes of having a reaction that allows you to use up everything available and make excess gains.
